some chiefs friendly
with miners
and settlers
soldiers came
ripping through creek
crashing across
ice-crusted pools
charged directly
into the village
shooting and yelling
like crazed men
demolished tipis
chased people
showed no mercy

MASACRE
EN COLORADO
La Unión Gobernó Colorado,
29 de noviembre de 1964
Massacre de Sand Creek
Infamia y vergüenza en la
pacífica aldea
En el sur de Cheyenne
los indios de Arapaho
pensaron que buffalo
se acercaba
a Sand Creek
Sin embargo
era la caballería
de los vestidos de azul
Los indios salieron
apurados de sus tipis,
desconcertados y alarmados
Estos indios
estaban en paz
Algunos jefes habían sido
amistosos con mineros
y colonizadores
Desorientado el jefe Cheyenne
Black Kettle
